Our Wine
Chelsea Vineyards Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
Our wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon varietal from a single vineyard. It is estate grown on our 5 acre vineyard on the Napa-Sonoma County border. The vineyard is nestled in a small mountain valley, located in the Mayacamas Mountains area above Calistoga, which bridges the Napa and Sonoma wine regions.
The vineyard was planted in 1999 with 1103 Paulsen Root Stalk Clone #7. The grapes are harvested from the premium Northwest block of the vineyard. Starting with the 2003 vintage, the wine is aged in 100% French Oak barrels, 50% new. Production is limited to under 250 cases per year.

Winemakers tasting notes 2006 vintage: The deep, ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of black cherries, black currants, tobacco leaf and coffee, medium to full bodied, generous and silky texture.
Wine shop notes on the 2006 vintage: This is a small production Cabernet (just 168 cases produced in this vintage) from a five acre vineyard planted in 1999 on the Napa-Sonoma County border. Cassis and tobacco aromas dominate this wine at first, but with some air scents of fresh-roasted coffee, sweet cherries and leather start to come through. The palate delivers on what the nose promises on a luscious, full-bodied frame. Generous, sweet, but structured enough to drink over the next decade.

Winemaker Ignacio Blancas:
Ignacio has worked for 15 years in the wine industry. He has completed his Certification in Viticulture and Enology in 2004, and remains up-to-date with all current best-practices by attending seminars about viticulture and winemaking. He has had great reviews and
awards on his wines.
Ignacio has worked with Chelsea Vineyards since the 2003 vintage.
